Bushfire Management Statement
If you have arrived at this page, it is likely that you have been asked to provide a Bushfire Management Statement (BMS) for submission to Council as part of your planning application for a new dwelling, extension to an existing dwelling, subdivision or other development.
A BMS is a requirement of the BMO, which is intended to incorporate bushfire protection for new development at an early stage in the planning process.

- Conduct a detailed site assessment;
- Assess the property and its surrounding landscape if required, in accordance with AS 3959-2018 Construction of buildings in bushfire-prone areas and Clause 44.06 Bushfire Management Overlay;
- If your planning zone requires it, conduct a bushfire hazard landscape assessment, including analysis of credible bushfire scenarios that might impact the site and how the development can respond to them in compliance with the relevant building and planning provisions;
- GIS mapping and analysis of the development proposal;
- Determine the required Bushfire Attack Level (BAL);
- If required for a complex site or development proposal, we will prepare a Bushfire Development Report that documents a range of different development options and assesses their likelihood of meeting the objectives of the BMO;
- Preparation of the official BMS that will be submitted to Council as part of your planning permit application; and
- Liaison with CFA and other authorities, if required.
